FAQs about renting a boat in Corfu

What is included and what is not included in the rental?

The rates listed on www.minas-yachting.com are only indicative. On request, the boats’ availability and final pricing will be given. Our rates include the rental of the boat, as well as all of its electrical and safety equipment, as well as a dinghy (tender) for sailboats and catamarans of 35 feet or more. The instructions for departure, guides and navigation charts, and technical help from the base, available 7 days a week during your voyage, are also included. Fuel, final boat cleaning, meals, transportation and transfer charges to/from the base, port taxes/fees, mooring costs, and tourist taxes are not included in our charter/rental pricing. To help you plan your budget, ask our base manager for an estimate of these expenditures. Certain required extras must be added to the charter/rental fee depending on the base and the boat. Each quotation includes a list of these choices. Mostly, it’s the boat’s last cleaning and supplies (gas, stack, tea towels…) Other choices for enhancing your voyage include: paddle, dinghy outboard engine, bedding, towels, full board, captain, barbeque… Our base manager  will show you the full range of possibilities. To calculate the entire cost of your voyage, include the rental charge, optional extras (required or not), and on-site fuel, port, and meal expenditures.

Is my boat covered by insurance for the charter or rental?

Any of Minas Yachting’s boats are insured and covered against all dangers when rented to a third party. However, you will be required to pay a deposit. This deposit is equal to the insurance deductible, below which the insurer will refuse to compensate the boat owner for any “minor” damage. You can also enroll in the Damage Waiver Insurance. If your deposit is kept by the renter in the event of a maritime disaster, the insurance will return it. Minas Yachting advises its customers to take up this insurance via Ouest Assurances. The cost of your damage waiver insurance should be around 4% of the rental value. The insurance business also provides cancellation insurance and, if necessary, repatriation.

What are the payments to be made to confirm my reservation?

To confirm a boat hire, notify our base manager, who will place an option (block the boat) on the boat for a certain period of time until your deposit is received. Only once we receive your deposit of 30 to 50% of the entire rental price (via bank transfer, PayPal, or credit card) will the reservation be deemed official. All reservations booked less than one month before travel demand a 100 percent deposit. The remaining payment must be paid one month before to boarding to the base manager. Extras and choices that are required will be paid for locally.

What if I need to cancel my cruise?

You should notify our base manager as soon as possible if you desire to cancel. Standard cancellation policy 1. When cancellation is announced 1 to 45 days prior to departure, 100% of the total charter fee is due. 2. When cancellation is announced 46 to 90 days prior to departure, 30% of the total charter fee is due. 3. When cancellation is announced 91 days or more prior to departure, 300 euro will be retained. Cancellation guarantee In any of the above cases, we guarantee that the total charter fee of a cancelled charter will be returned to our client (except of an administration fee of 300 Euro), in case a new charter comes up for the same boat, for this period, under the same conditions.
